Raising Awareness for Brain Tumour Charities
In 2006, at the age of 27, Lisa Connell was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour. Since then she has found through her own personal experience that there is little known about the research, treatments and information available surrounding the illness and it’s cause. Therefore from Lisa’s own battle with the illness she has made it her personal mission to raise £1 million pounds for charity through the business she has created, RentADateForCharity.
When Mandy first met Lisa, it was quite obvious that she had been badly advised in terms of how she could promote her story and her exciting plans to raise the well needed funds and awareness for brain tumour charities through her innovative business.
As time progressed and as Lisa told Mandy more and more about the “promises” being made to her from various organisations and how it always ended in disappointment that I really felt that she needed my support and guidance. Since then Mandy has been on hand for Lisa, mentoring her ideas for the business, giving her guidance on the approach and generally helping where she can to support and promote any activity Lisa gets involved with.
Working with Lisa is extremely humbling as although she never knows what each day may bring, she still manages to have the drive and enthuisasm to make her fundraising initiatives succeed even after the many knock backs and disappointments from external organisations a long the way.
